Oon Thian Seng belongs to a rare breed of lawyers who are called to both the Singapore and Malaysia Bars. Besides appearing regularly in the Singapore High Court, he has also appeared before the Malaysian High Court on several occasions involving matters of substantial complexity.

Thian Seng's expertise encompasses shipping and admiralty law. He has acted for P&I and FD&D Clubs and has advised in relation to charterparty, bill of lading and bunker disputes.  Apart from advising shipyard clients in respect of shipyard practice, liability and pursuit of claims, Thian Seng also regularly represents hull and machinery underwriters and shipowners in matters involving ship repair and engine damage claims.

Besides specialising in shipping and admiralty matters, Thian Seng also acts for commodity traders and banks in international trade and banking disputes involving letters of credit, standby letters of credit, bills of exchange and other financial instruments.  He has also advised and acted for underwriters in relation to insurance, co-insurance, reinsurance as well as professional indemnity and liability insurance claims.

Thian Seng is the go-to person for corporate matters for the firm's shipping and banking clients.  He regularly acts for financial institutions, buyers and sellers in relation to the sale, purchase and financing of vessels and offshore equipment as well as ship building contracts.  He also advises on loan agreements, mortgages, debentures, insolvency, schemes of arrangement and bank documentation.
